Finnish Sauna

My Finnish heritage, from cradle to grave, was the sauna. Correctly pronounced, “saw-oo-naw”, for you language snobs that think your fancy, “saw-naw”, is worth raising your pinky over. We Finns proudly invented this luxurious part of weekly life.

There is nothing like the top bench on a freezing cold winter night. My favorite memories were of the little sauna window we would crack, letting the 10 below zero air drift in like fog.

When you breathed in the crisp frozen air, little ice crystals would form and then melt in your nostrils. Or the sauna air would get so hot, it would burn your skin if you blew on it.

So I would like to dedicate this video to happy memories of grandma and grandpas butts and cold winter nights:
